A car struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Monday on a North County thoroughfare, authorities reported.
The 61-year-old man was crossing Leucadia Boulevard in a crosswalk in front of Encinitas Ranch Town Center mall when a vehicle rolled through a red light and hit him about 6:30 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials.
Medics took the man to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of severe trauma to his right leg, Deputy Michael Power said.
No other injuries were reported.
The driver, also 61, was not believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash, Power said. Her name and that of the victim were not released.
