The driver of a white pickup truck used for pool maintenance struck another vehicle in Valley Center Saturday.
It happened just before noon at the intersection of Cole Grade Road and Cool Valley Road. This prompted the closure of Cole Grade Road in both north and south directions. Travel on Cool Valley Road is limited to residential traffic only.
The driver of the smaller Subaru was attempting to make a left turn on Cool Valley Road when the truck driver traveling north on Cole Grade Road T-boned the smaller vehicle. The driver of the of the Subaru was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with major injuries, according to Valley Center Fire Captain Phil Carreon.
Information regarding the condition of the driver of the pickup truck was not immediately available. The GMC vehicle contained muriatic acid and chlorine used to clean swimming pools which was not combined and appeared to be confined to the immediate area of the accident.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol and or drugs were a factor in this accident. No further information is available at this time as the incident remains under further investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
