Authorities released the name Wednesday of a 64-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a collision on a back-country road east of Lake Henshaw.
Richard Bruce Walker of Valley Center was riding to the north on state Route 79 in Santa Ysabel about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday when the driver of a pickup truck directly ahead of him pulled over onto the shoulder at Barrett Hill Road, then steered back into the traffic lanes to make a U-turn, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The resulting collision hurled Walker onto the roadway. He died at the scene, despite the lifesaving efforts of emergency personnel.
No other injuries were reported.
