A man suspected of pulling a gun and opening fire on two teenagers, who escaped injury, during a confrontation in Linda Vista Tuesday was wounded a short time later in a police shooting.
The officer-involved shooting in the 2100 block of Ulric Street took place shortly after 2 p.m., as patrol personnel were investigating the earlier gunfire in the neighborhood, according to San Diego police.
While fleeing from officers, the unidentified suspect climbed a fence at a nearby daycare center, witness Oscar Marin told NBC7. The wounded man, who was not immediately identified, was then taken into custody, and medics took him to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of trauma of undetermined severity.
No other injuries were reported.
Another witness told the news station that the suspect had been arguing with the teens prior to pulling a gun and opening fire.
