A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old man slain outside his Bostonia-area home four months ago, allegedly by two men trying to collect on an overdue loan, a sheriff’s official said Monday.

Tristan Eric Klingensmith, 20, was already in custody when he was booked on a murder charge in the fatal shooting of Brandon DeGuzman.

The victim was found dead on a sidewalk in front of his house in the 500 block of Danny Street about 6:30 a.m. Sept. 24.

That night, members of a fugitive task force arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting, parolee Richard James Gunner, 23. Gunner has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, robbery and burglary and is awaiting trial in the case.

Klingensmith has been in custody on unrelated drug and weapon counts since two days after the killing.

Detectives believe the deadly shooting occurred during a confrontation over an outstanding debt, homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson said.
