Two people were in custody Saturday for driving drunk and nine others were cited for being unlicensed or having a suspended license as the result of a Chula Vista checkpoint.
The Chula Vista Police Department conducted the DUI and driver’s license checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. in the 300 block of East H Street. Checkpoints are placed in locations that are most likely to catch drunk drivers and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public, a CVPD statement said.
Of the 1,106 vehicles that traveled through the checkpoint, 376 vehicles were screened and 11 drivers took field sobriety tests, police said. Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and nine people were issued citations for being unlicensed or driving with a suspended driver’s license.
Five vehicles were impounded and eight citations were issued for various vehicle code violations, police said.
