A 23-year-old man driving in East County and a 64-year-old man driving in Miramar were killed in separate crashes, veering off rain-slicked roads Friday.
The man in East County was found fatally ejected alongside his car that had crashed off westbound Interstate 8 in the East County highlands. The discovery of his body east of state Route 79 in the Descanso area was reported shortly before 11 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
“There are no witnesses to this (accident), and it is unclear when it occurred,” CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.
The wrecked Lexus sedan apparently was the only involved vehicle, Pearlstein said. The driver, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was ejected from the car during the crash.
A 64-year-old man was also killed when the sports car he was driving veered off a wet roadway in Miramar and smashed into a tree. The southbound 2013 Chevrolet Corvette crashed off Kearny Villa Road, just south of Miramar Way shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.
The driver, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was thrown from his car and died at the scene of the crash, Officer Tony Martinez said.
