A man was found dead early Monday morning near the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park.
Homicide detectives were summoned after someone reported finding a body off Park Boulevard between Morley Field Drive and Zoo Place around 2 a.m., San Diego Police Sgt. Jordan Wells said.
The victim, whose name was not immediately available, had suffered major head trauma, police told reporters at the scene.
Park Boulevard was closed in the immediate area, according to Wells.
