A bicyclist was seriously injured Monday in a collision with a car on a North County street.

The 30-year-old man, who was not wearing a helmet, was trying to ride across Vista Village Drive when the eastbound Toyota Corolla hit him about 9 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials.

Medics airlifted the bicyclist to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of severe head injuries, Deputy Jason Malson said.

The 62-year-old motorist was unhurt. Her name was not released.
