A 65-year-old man driving a 2004 Cadillac STS suffered serious injuries Thursday after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a San Diego Unified School District bus, police are reporting.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at Waring and Navajo roads in Allied Gardens.

For unknown reasons, the man lost control of the Cadillac, rear-ended a 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by a 44-year-old woman, crossed the center median, and collided with the bus, according to a San Diego Police Department report.

There were no students onboard the bus and the bus driver was not injured.

The Cadillac driver sustained several fractures, and internal abdominal bleeding, according to the police report. He was transported by paramedics to Sharp Memorial Hospital and is in grave condition, the report continued.

Drugs and/or alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to police.
