Border Patrol agents this week seized 2,400 pounds of marijuana from an outboard yacht abandoned off Calafia State Beach south of San Clemente.
On Monday afternoon, California State Parks rangers reported a 25-foot Bayliner washing ashore. With assistance from the rangers, Border Patrol agents beached the vessel for inspection.
Several large bags were found containing 82 cellophane-wrapped bundles of marijuana. The drugs have an estimated street value of $1.2 million.
Authorities searched the surrounding area but found no one connected with the vessel.
