A man was shot and wounded in a leg Monday night in Escondido.

The victim’s wound was not life-threatening and he was treated at a local hospital, said Lt. Kevin Toth of the Escondido Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 8:45 p.m. near Crofton Lane and Aster Street, Toth said.

The shooter was believed to be traveling in a white vehicle when he exited and fired multiple shots at the victim, striking him once in one of his legs, Toth said.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.

The motive for the shooting was under investigation.
