Deputies were dispatched about 5 a.m. to Saint Andrews Church, 890 Balour Drive, to assist the Encinitas Fire Department and saw flames inside the Saint Andrews Preschool, said Sgt. Nanette McMasters of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
“The fire was contained to the preschool and was quickly put out by the fire department,” he said. “No other structures were threatened.”
A witness reported seeing a man flee from the church at the time of the incident. A perimeter was established by deputies and a sheriff’s K-9 unit. No suspects were located, she said.
