A 31-year-old man suffered serious injuries Tuesday when he crashed his motorcycle at high speed while fleeing a traffic stop on a Grantville-area street.
A motorcycle officer tried to pull over the man about 1 p.m. after seeing him riding on Mission Gorge Road at speeds in excess of 100 mph, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The man refused to yield and tried to get away by running red lights and “driving erratically,” Officer Dan Lasher said.
After turning onto Mission Gorge Place, the motorcyclist lost control, sending his two-wheeler smashing into a Volkswagen Jetta stopped in traffic and then into the back of a second vehicle parked nearby.
Medics took the man, whose name was not released, to a hospital for treatment of “numerous” fractures to his pelvis and left thighbone, Lasher said.
