Fires destroyed a motor home and a car parked next to it in Chula Vista on Sunday, and spread to a nearby house, according to the Chula Vista Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to the 1400 block of Second Avenue shortly after noon, where the motor home caught fire, became engulfed by flames and spread to a vehicle parked next to it, Chula Vista Deputy Fire Chief Harry Muns said. The nearby house that caught fire was not severely damaged.
The fires caused minor damage to the exterior of the house where the vehicles were parked, but the structure was quickly protected by firefighters’ quick work, Muns said. Both fires were out within about 10 minutes of the firefighters’ arrival.
No injuries were reported. Investigators were called in to determine the cause and assess a damage amount. The fire was not related to another vehicle fire in the 100 block of Amy Street at about the same time, Muns said.
