A man has been arrested in connection with the death of his cousin, according to a report Thursday from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Andre Blue, 28, was taken into custody following a fight that broke out with his cousin, Kenyan Embry, 37, early Wednesday morning at the Kenora Park Apartments in unincorporated area of Spring Valley, the report stated.
Deputies responded to the complex located at 3557 Kenora Drive at around 5:30 a.m. regarding a call about the two men fighting in apartment #22.
The men had stopped brawling by the time deputies arrived, but Embry was “in obvious medical distress and having trouble breathing,” according to the report. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but died a short time later.
Blue was transported to another local hospital for treatment of minor fight wounds, and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder, the report stated.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled Embry’s death a homicide, but the cause of death is pending.
