A 33-year-old motorcyclist was severely injured Tuesday in a collision with a truck at a rural North County road crossing.

The man was trying to pass a 2011 Toyota Tacoma in front of him on Dye Road in the Ramona area shortly before 1 p.m. when the woman behind the wheel of the pickup made a left turn in front of his westbound 2015 Harley-Davidson at Duraznitos Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two-wheeler hit the driver’s-side door of the truck, hurling the rider onto the unpaved roadside, CHP public affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said. Medics airlifted the man to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of life- threatening trauma.

The 28-year-old motorist and her 18-year-old female passenger were taken to the same Escondido hospital with minor injuries.

The names of the victims, all three of whom live in Ramona, were not released.
