San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies will be out in force this weekend in Vista in an attempt to reduce drunken driving.
A sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint is scheduled to operate from 7:30 p.m. Saturday until 2:30 a.m. Sunday at an undisclosed location within the city, Sgt. Herman Gonzalez said.
“The checkpoint will consist of DUI and drug recognition expert trained deputies who will be evaluating drivers’ abilities to safely operate motor vehicles if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Gonzalez said.
“As part of the checkpoint, all drivers passing through the checkpoint will be checked to make sure they have a valid driver’s license,” he said.
The checkpoint is funded by a grant through the California Office of Traffic Safety.
