A motorcyclist was severely injured Friday in a solo crash on a rural route near the U.S.-Mexico border.
The 25-year-old San Diego resident was speeding to the east on state Route 94 in the Potrero area shortly after 10:30 a.m. when his Yamaha two- wheeler veered off a curving stretch of the roadway west of Harris Ranch Road and crashed into a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Medics took the man, whose name was not immediately released, to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of life-threatening injuries, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.
