A homeless man was stabbed and robbed of his cell phone this Saturday morning in the East Village.
He was awakened by two suspects who stabbed him and then ran away. They remain at large, according to San Diego police.
The 32-year-old victim was sleeping behind an apartment complex in the 800 block of 17th Street shortly after 7:30 a.m. when a man and woman approached him and asked about his cell phone, according to officer Frank Cali.
The man attacked the victim by stabbing him twice. Then the female suspect grabbed the phone, and they both took off, Cali said.
The victim sought help at the Neil Good Day Center nearby and was taken to a hospital by paramedics, where he was expected to be OK, Cali said. Officers were not given a description of the suspects.
