A fast-moving wildfire blackened an estimated 133 brushy acres south of Ramona Monday afternoon, threatening some back-country homes for a time but causing no reported structural damage or injuries.

The blaze erupted for unknown reasons about 1:15 p.m. off Featherstone Canyon Road, near Wright Canyon Road in the Barona area, according to Cal Fire.

Sheriff’s deputies cleared people out of Barona Mesa-area homes nearest the blaze and suggested that they wait out the emergency at an equestrian center in the 16900 block of Gunn Stage Road in the San Diego Country Estates community.

Authorities lifted the evacuation order shortly after 4:30 p.m., said Kendal Bortisser, a fire captain with the state agency.

Ground crews and personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters fought the blaze.

By about 9 p.m., the fire was 50 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.
