Four people were injured Monday, two seriously, in a collision involving a sedan, an SUV and a tour bus near the Viejas Casino.

The accident occurred about 10 a.m., when the driver of a westbound Ford Escort tried to pull a U-turn on Willows Road, near Browns Road in the Alpine area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

As the car veered to the left across the roadway, a westbound charter bus carrying about 15 people struck it, then smashed into an oncoming Toyota 4Runner, CHP Officer Benjamin Demarest said.

The two occupants of the Escort suffered extensive injuries. Medics took them to an emergency room along with a person who sustained minor trauma in the bus, Demarest said.

A second passenger in the bus was left with superficial injuries that did not require hospital care.

The driver and sole occupant of the 4Runner was unhurt, Demarest said.
