A thick-bodied thief robbed a Carmel Valley supermarket banking desk Thursday, authorities reported.
The man, who appeared to be in his early to late 50s, confronted and demanded cash from a teller at the Wells Fargo office inside a Vons store in the 3850 Valley Center Drive shortly after 1 p.m., according to San Diego police.
After the employee turned over an undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled out the front of the business.
He was described as a heavyset white man in a red baseball cap and a blue-and-white-striped shirt, Officer Frank Cali said.
