A reward of up to $1,000 was on offer Wednesday for information that leads to the arrest of a teenager who stabbed a 22-year-old man during a fight at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar on the Fourth of July.

A scuffle between the suspect and victim broke out as the victim and a friend were walking near the swing ride near the fairgrounds’ west gate around 11 p.m. July 4, according to the sheriff’s department and Crime Stoppers. At some point during the fight, the victim was stabbed in his upper body. He survived.

The suspect was described as a 16 or 17 year old Hispanic boy who was roughly 5 feet 2 and 140 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with a “C” on it, a white T-shirt, khaki shorts and white socks. He was seen with five other people.

Authorities asked fairgoers who were in the vicinity of the west gate when the assault took place or who had taken photos or video in the area to call the sheriff’s department at (760) 966-3500.
