Authorities sought the public’s help Wednesday to locate a 47-year-old man suspected of breaking into a woman’s apartment in the Mountain View neighborhood last month and attempting to sexually assault her.
Alejandro Avila Ibarra allegedly entered the woman’s home on T Street near South 39th Street and attacked her on the morning of May 27, according to San Diego Police and Crime Stoppers.
A fight ensued, in which Ibarra may have suffered a severe injury to the fingers of his left hand, authorities said. Police withheld the woman’s name, and did not reveal whether she knew the suspect.
Authorities described Ibarra as Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds, with a medium build.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call police at (619) 531-2210. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477, or contacting the agency via email at sdcrimestoppers.org.
