Updated at 5:12 p.m. June 27, 2016:
Two women and a teenage girl were found dead Monday at a home near Rancho Santa Fe Golf Course in a possible double murder-suicide.
Deputies responding to a report of possible child abuse at the upscale house in the 17100 block of Via de la Valle made the grim discovery around noon, according to sheriff’s officials.
After spotting one of the lifeless women through a kitchen window, the deputies forced entry and found the other two bodies in separate rooms, Lt. Kenneth Nelson told reporters. It was unclear how the three died, though they each had suffered “obvious trauma,” Nelson said. He declined to elaborate.
“We still trying to determine a motive,” the lieutenant told news crews. “We’re still trying to determine a relationship.”
Investigators were “fairly confident” there were “no other suspects outstanding in this case,” he said.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of the deaths.
The decedents’ names were withheld pending family notification.
