A 22-year-old man was fatally wounded in a stabbing early Wednesday near Balderama Park in Oceanside.

Officers found the gravely injured man lying on the ground in the vicinity of Lemon and San Diego streets around midnight. They provided first aid to the man, who at the time was going in and out of consciousness, Oceanside Police Department Public Information Officer Ryan Keim said.

The victim was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla to be treated, but he later died, Keim said. His name has yet to be made public.

Keim said no arrests have been made. A suspect description was not immediately available.
