A car crash in Mission Bay Park this Saturday morning sent the driver to a hospital and caused a SigAlert to be issued near SeaWorld, according to San Diego Police.
A 28-year-old male was speeding in a 2002 Acura eastbound in the 500 block of Sea World Drive at 9 a.m., lost control of his car, veered into the center divide and hit a palm tree, according to officer Frank Cali. The car then rolled into the westbound lanes, causing a traffic nightmare for cars attempting to get into the SeaWorld parking lot.
The driver suffered a broken back and was taken by paramedics to a local hospital, Cali said.
The SigAlert was lifted at about noon and traffic was getting back to normal. The driver’s identity was not released by police and investigators were trying to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved.
