A 24-year-old Brawley man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in the East County, the San Diego County Medical Examiners Office reported Sunday.
The driver — whose name will be released pending notification of kin — lost control of his vehicle last night shortly before 11 p.m. while speeding westbound on Interstate 8, just west of McCain Valley Road near Boulevard, the medical examiner said in a news release.
The driver failed to negotiate a turn in the highway, causing the vehicle to leave the highway, role down a steep embankment and eject him along the way.
Officers responding to the crash declared the driver dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner.
It was not clear if he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
