A 56-year-old motorist suffered life-threatening injuries in an alcohol-fueled crash at a Vista intersection, authorities said Wednesday.
The driver of a southbound Toyota Solara veered into oncoming traffic on East Vista Way and the coupe slammed into a large Peterbilt truck stopped in the northbound left turn lane at the intersection with East Bobier Drive shortly after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, San Diego Sheriff‘s Deputy Jason Ferguson said.
The Toyota’s driver was severely injured, unconscious and could barely breathe. Paramedics airlifted the driver to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, according to the deputy.
Ferguson said alcohol was a factor in the crash. He asked anyone who saw the crash but did not provide a statement at the scene to call the sheriff’s department at (760) 940-4910 or (858) 565-5200.
