A reward of up to $1,000 was offered Wednesday for information that leads investigators to whoever set a series of small fires in trash cans and dumpsters in the Hillcrest area last month.
The fires broke out on the morning of March 21 in alleys off Essex Street and University Avenue, according to the Metro Arson Strike Team and San Diego County Crime Stoppers.
A surveillance camera captured images of the suspect lighting a dumpster fire in the south alley off the 1400 block of University Avenue.
The suspect was described as a white man wearing glasses, dark clothing with a gray hood and “hiking-style” shoes.
Crime Stoppers is offering up $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts was asked to call the Metro Arson Strike Team at (619) 236-6815 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Tips can also be submitted via email at sdcrimestoppers.org.
