A man suffered major injuries when he allegedly sped his motorcycle into a parked SUV in the El Cerrito neighborhood, a police officer said Saturday.

The collision between the motorcycle and SUV took place about 4:25 p.m. Friday, at the intersection of 54th Street and University Avenue, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said. The 35-year-old man was headed downp 54th Street when he allegedly accelerated up to 90 miles per hour through the intersection, Heims said. The rider lost control of his bike and collided with the SUV.

The man suffered major internal injuries and multiple, compound fractures of his right leg, according to Heims. He was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital. His condition was unknown.

The crash was being investigated by the San Diego police Traffic Division, Heims added.
