Three motorists were arrested for drunken driving in Chula Vista during a saturation patrol that ended early Sunday.
There were 41 traffic stops made during the eight-hour operation, which began at 7 p.m. Saturday. Six vehicles were towed and impounded because their drivers either had a suspended license or no license, said Chula Vista Police Officer Brian Carter.
The 28 citations issued by police were for various violations, including speeding, reckless driving, running a red light among other infractions, Carter said. Drunken driving saturation patrol operations concentrate on locating impaired drivers that are under the influence of alcohol or drugs while operating a motor vehicle, According to Carter. It was the fourth scheduled saturation patrol conducted in March and it was considered a successful operation, he said.
Funding for the operation was provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
