A San Diego man was killed late Friday in a collision between a jeep and a car on Interstate 5 in Mission Viejo, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The motorist was later identified as Luke Harris, 20, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

The crash took place on the southbound freeway at the Crown Valley Parkway onramp, just north of Saddleback College, at 11:10 p.m., according to the CHP.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash shut down the No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes on the southbound 5 Freeway. A SigAlert was issued by the CHP at 11:48 p.m. The lanes were cleared and the SigAlert was cancelled at 3:22a.m., according to the CHP.

The crash remains under investigation.
