Authorities sought the public’s help Thursday in identifying a youth sought in an unprovoked stabbing that sent a 15-year-old Vista girl to a hospital.
The assailant, who appeared to be in his mid- to late teens, walked into a home in the area of East Drive and North Santa Fe Avenue about 9 a.m. Monday and asked for directions to a nearby business, according to sheriff’s officials. He left, but returned about an hour later and attacked the girl, who was treated for a non-life threatening stab wound.
The motive for the crime was unknown, Deputy Adriana Uribe said.
The attacker was described as Hispanic, between 5 feet 5 and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 160 to 200 pounds. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a gray or black hooded sweat shirt, jeans and possibly a black San Diego Padres hat. He was riding a small green bicycle.
