Authorities released the name Thursday of a 59-year-old woman killed in a bicycle accident on a busy coastal street near Agua Hedionda Lagoon.
Joyce Koven Smith of Cardiff-by-the-Sea was riding to the south along a bike path in the 4600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard about 10 a.m. Wednesday when she swerved into an adjacent traffic lane for unknown reasons and was struck by a Ford Fiesta traveling in the same direction.
Smith died at the scene of the crash, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver involved in the accident will not face any criminal charges, officials said.
