A bus struck and seriously injured a pedestrian at a Core-Columbia intersection Monday, authorities reported.

The woman was crossing the 1300 block of Front Street in a crosswalk when the Metropolitan Transit System vehicle hit her shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took her to a hospital for treatment of a brain hemorrhage. She was expected to survive, Officer Dan Lasher said.
