The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is planning special DUI patrols across the county during the Super Bowl on Sunday and continuing overnight.
The patrols will begin at 3 p.m., just before the kickoff, and last through 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
“Super Bowl Sunday should be a fun and safe time, on and off the gridiron,” said Sheriff Bill Gore. “Do the responsible thing: don’t drink and drive. Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.”
Gore reminded Super Bowl partygoers to plan a safe way home before the game, or be prepared to call a friend or taxi if impaired. The Be My Designated Driver service is another safe option.
Funding for the Super Bowl DUI enforcement program comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
