An investigation was underway Monday into the stabbing death of a man in the Linda Vista neighborhood.
Someone called 911 shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday to report a man lying on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of East Jewett Street near Ulric Street, according to San Diego Police Lt. Brent Williams of the homicide unit.
Arriving officers found the unconscious, mortally wounded man suffering from a stab wound to his upper body.
Williams speculated that the victim may have been involved in a fight that culminated in the stabbing. No arrests had been made and no suspect description was available as of mid-morning.
Paramedics attempted to revive the man, but he died at the scene, Williams said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Anyone with additional information on the case was asked to call police at (619) 531-2293. or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
