San Diego police are seeking two men suspected of shooting a one man and beating another with the rifle in a possibly gang-related attack in Linda Vista.
A witness who was sitting in a nearby restaurant told police a “pop” sound was heard around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, shortly before both suspects were spotted chasing a 19-year-old man along Linda Vista Road near Fulton Street, San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims said. The witness saw one of the suspects start hitting the victim with a rifle, but stopped watching when a wounded 23- year-old man entered the eatery.
Police arrived to find the suspects gone, the 23-year-old man bleeding from a gunshot wound to his left arm and the younger man with lacerations on his back and face, according to the officer. Both victims were taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Heims said the victims were uncooperative and refused to tell officers what had happened.
Witnesses described the man carrying the rifle as a Hispanic man in his 20s with brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a baseball cap. No one was able to immediately describe the second suspect.
