A person was struck and killed Thursday night apparently trying to cross Interstate 5 in Old Town.
The body was found on the northbound freeway at Hancock Street in Old Town at around 10:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP temporarily shut down all northbound lanes and the Old Town onramp.
The number 1 and 2 lanes were reopened about 10:50 p.m. while the other lanes remained closed for the death investigation, according to the CHP.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
There’s no word yet on the gender or age of the victim or the reason the person was trying to cross the freeway. The name of the deceased will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The collision remained under investigation by the CHP.
