A bank robber threatening use of a bomb fled a downtown bank Saturday with an undisclosed amount of cash, but not before surveillance cameras caught him in in the act.

The FBI and San Diego Police Department on Monday circulated photos, seeking the public’s help to identify the man who robbed the Chase Bank at 101 W. Broadway in San Diego.

The heist took place just before noon Saturday, FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said in a news release.

“The unknown male … passed a demand note to the teller demanding cash,” the FBI said. “The robber also made a verbal demand for money and threatened to use a bomb if he did not receive any money. After receiving a sum of money from the teller, the robber fled the bank headed eastbound on foot.”

No injuries were reported.

The robber is about 45 to 55 years old, about 175 to 185 pounds and 5-9 to 5-10 tall. He wore dark navy blue clothing and a blue stocking cap with “California” on the front, Foxworth said.
