A roughly 90-minute police standoff with a domestic violence suspect in the Chollas Creek neighborhood on Tuesday morning ended with the man’s arrest.

Officers were sent to a residence in the 4200 block of 50th Street near Orange Street shortly after 5 a.m. to look into a report that a man had been throwing things around and hit his wife with a chair, according to San Diego Police. The woman was able to escape, but extent of her injuries was not immediately known.

The suspect hung up on police officers who tried to contact him as he was barricaded inside the residence, police said.

The standoff ended around 6:35 a.m. as the suspect was taken into custody, according to police. His name was not immediately available.
