The cause of a fire that damaged several garage units and vehicles early on Sunday morning in Chula Vista is under investigation, an official said.

Firefighters responded to an apartment complex at 580 Telegraph Ave. at 2:30 a.m. to find a detached garage unit aflame, said Richard Brocchini, battalion chief for the San Diego Fire Department. Firefighters contained the blaze, but returned around 6:30 a.m. after something caused the fire start up again, Brocchini said.

There were no injuries, but three garages were ”significantly” affected and four vehicles were damaged.

Brocchini said investigators don’t know exactly where the fire started in the detached garage unit, and there was no damage estimate at this time.
