The county Office of the Medical Examiner on Saturday released the names of a married couple found dead inside a Chula Vista home that had caught fire Friday.
Marlene Lillian Welker, 79, and Bud Eugene Welker, 89, were found dead in the aftermath. The medical examiner did not specify what caused their deaths.
The fire was at 639 Claire Ave., near East H Street. It was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, which provides dispatch services in Chula Vista.
The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes, and the bodies found inside.What caused the fire has yet to be determined, according to the Chula Vista Fire Department.
