San Diego Police on Tuesday sought a man who robbed Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits‘ popular new Miramar-area brewery and its employees at gunpoint.
The masked suspect entered the brewery on Carroll Way near Trade Street through a back door shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday, pulled a handgun and demanded money both from the business and the remaining employees, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said. The brewery’s tasting room closes at 11 p.m.
The robber escaped with an unspecified amount before police arrived, according to the officer.
Police described the suspect as Hispanic and in his 30s. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and was carrying a black backpack.
Ballast Point is in the national news because of its upcoming purchase by Constellation Brands for $1 billion — a record in the growing craft beer industry.
