A crash that killed a pedestrian walking along state Route 78 in Oceanside was under investigation Wednesday.
A 2014 Chevy Silverado veered to the side of the westbound lanes near Jefferson Street for unknown reasons and struck the man shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said. The pedestrian died at the scene and has yet to be identified.
The 26-year-old Escondido man behind the wheel of the pickup truck was not injured and was not suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Bettencourt said.
