San Diego Police released a photo Thursday of a 22-year- old man described as a violent methamphetamine user suspected of killing a man with a machete at a Rolando Park-area home.
Vincent Garza Salas, who sometimes goes by “Chente,” is wanted on a no- bail warrant in connection with the death of 43-year-old Vicente Carrera at a residence in the 6800 block of Waite Drive near Aragon Drive around 10 p.m. on Nov. 5, according to San Diego police.
Carrera’s body was found on the home’s enclosed back patio the following morning with major upper body trauma, according to Lt. Paul Rorrison of the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit. A machete believed to have been used in the slaying was also found.
Rorrison said the victim did not live at the residence, but was a regular visitor.
Salas remained at large and was considered armed and dangerous. Police said the suspect is a heavy meth user and is known to be violent and carry knives. Salas is described as 5 feet 10 and 215 pounds, but police said he could be much lighter due to meth use.
Anyone with information on Salas’ whereabouts was asked to call police at (619) 531-2000 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
