Military firefighters are still on the scene this Saturday for a brush fire on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base. The blaze broke out Friday in the Whisky Impact Area in the northern portion of the sprawling North County military installation.

Fire crews are receiving air support from HMLA-169, a Marine helicopter squadron, but are only monitoring the fire, Sgt. Kevin Maynard said. The fire covers about 60 acres and poses no threat to people or property, according to Maynard.

There is still not word on how contained the fire is. Camp Pendleton officials will continue to update their Facebook and Twitter pages with the latest information on the blaze, Maynard said.
