A pickup truck struck and seriously injured a person in a wheelchair in a neighborhood near Gillespie Field late Monday afternoon.
The accident in the 1000 block of Greenfield Drive in the unincorporated Bostonia community occurred about 4:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Medics took the injured person, whose identity was not released, to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.
The accident forced the closure of several lanes in the area for a time, the CHP reported.
